The 7th annual SMBiT Professionals’ National Conference is being held on the Gold Coast on 21st and 22nd October 2022.

The Conference is designed to be the premiere networking and education event for IT Businesses and IT Professionals servicing SMBs across Australia and will feature extensive educational content and networking opportunities plus dinners on the Friday and Saturday nights.

Commencing at 8.30am on Friday 21st October and running for two full days, the Conference Agenda will consist of both business and technical presentations designed to help you grow your business.

This year our conference is growing, with elective workshops on Thursday 20th and activities on Sunday 22nd. Registration for these will be separate from the conference.

Karl has been an IT Consultant since 1995 and is one of the pioneers of the managed services business model.


Karl has owned several small businesses, including two very successful Managed Service companies. He received his first Microsoft certification in 1995 and his first MCSE in 1999. 


He is an author and maintains four blogs, including Small Biz Thoughts and Relax Focus Succeed.

Karl W Palachuk


Robert has a degree in Electrical Engineering as well as Masters of Business Administration. He is a Certified SharePoint, Office 365 and Azure Professional. Robert has over 20 years of IT experience. He is the Principal at the CIAOPS based in Sydney but servicing clients throughout the world.

Since 2012 Robert has been awarded a Most Valuable Professional (MVP) award from Microsoft for his contributions around the Office 365 product. He is also a Microsoft Certified Trainer (MCT).

Robert Crane


Wayne started his own IT business which over the course of 25 years transformed into a highly respected Managed Service Provider. In 2021, Wayne and his partners sold Correct Solutions.


Recently Wayne decided to step back and take a break to focus on family. There'll be new and exciting things to come in future.


Wayne has been nominated a Microsoft MVP for 16 years running for the work he did in community around the Microsoft Server products. Wayne has also been inducted into the CRN Australia Hall of Fame.

Wayne Small


With over 20 years of experience in computer security and cybercrime, Alex Tilley is a highly awarded cybercrime researcher. Beginning his career in the online casino industry on Australia’s Gold Coast, Alex went on to implement and administer many varieties of network security technologies within Australia’s banking industry. Alex was on the forefront of research and countermeasures when phishing and malware first began to attack banking platforms and customers. When he later became the Australian Federal Police’s senior cybercrime technical analyst, he combined his technical background with an analytical approach to discover “who” the cybercriminals were, why they were attacking specific targets, and what they were looking for. This included identifying exposing online child predators as well as cybercriminals. During this time Alex become a key member of the operations team responsible for many high profile cases.

Amy launched and has operated a best-in-class MSP for over 20 years. She is a highly respected technology business and M&A expert, influencer, thought leader, speaker and author.

Amy’s industry recognition includes 16-time Microsoft MVP, MSP 501 recipient, Jay McBain’s 100 Most Visible Channel Leaders and SMB Nation’s SMB 150 awardee.

Jeni has invaluable insight into the motivators, values and behaviours that drive business growth and development. As a former owner and co-founder of Otto IT (previously DWM Solutions), Jeni was instrumental in its almost 20 years of operation and success. 


As a professionally trained coach, trainer and facilitator, she develops leaders, highly engaged teams and kickass business culture. She consistently challenges the way people think while improving staff quality, accountability and satisfaction in the workplace.

Mark is an Executive Consultant and Industry Analyst with the Advisory and Consulting organisation Tech Research Asia where he focusses on working with established and emerging technology providers across the Asia-Pacific region.


Prior to working as an analyst Mark spent over 25 years in the Software, IT and Telecommunications industry in Europe and Asia Pacific including Chief Commercial Officer and Director, SME & Channels at Microsoft, General Manager Business Markets at Vodafone, and Vice President ANZ at Juniper Networks.


Mark was also part of a private equity led buyout of a mid-cap software company where he served as CEO for 5 years through to the successful sale of that business.  Mark’s current work is focussed on emerging technology trends across Asia-Pacific and the impact this is having on the traditional vendor-partner-customer relationship and how partners need to adapt their business to the new world.


Mark is a frequent speaker at industry events and forums, a serial buyer of new technology and unashamed coffee snob.

With over 30 years of business and management experience, Manuel has presented for or spoken to audiences all over the world.

He has owned several successful businesses, managed several successful IT and MSP service companies, and coached or mentored many more around the world.

After 40 years in the Information Technology industry, Nick has turned his focus to helping other business owners get what they want from their business. His experience in starting, growing, acquiring and merging bring enormous benefit to his clients.

COVID-19 Cancellation Policy:

Any Federal, State or Local governmental restrictions imposed in Australia on non-essential gatherings due to the COVID-19 pandemic which result in SMBiT Professionals being unable to hold the 2022 National Conference Event despite best intentions will result in a full refund of conference registration to delegates.

If you have registered and paid for the 2022 National Conference and are unable to attend the event due to isolation with COVID-19 or Border Closure, please contact [email protected] for a credit towards your next membership renewal or refund.
