SMBiT Professionals Association Announcement

5 November 2025

Setting the stage for our next period of growth

Today, SMBiT Professionals is entering a new and exciting phase as the leading industry association for Technology Service Providers (TSPs) across Australia and New Zealand. This next level builds upon the Association’s proud history and achievements, setting up a foundation for deeper industry impact and greater member value. These changes reflect our capacity for growth, our commitment to our members, and supporting TSPs as they evolve faster than ever.

“We have worked incredibly hard to deliver value to our members and champion change for our industry. This next phase is about having the right goals, structure and strategy to support us achieving these new milestones,” said Scott Atkinson, Board Chair, SMBiT Professionals.

Our focus moving forward is on attracting a broader TSP market, from one-person operators to larger businesses of 30+ people. This diversity creates a richer, more collaborative environment where members continue to share knowledge, strengthen their maturity, and aspire towards creating better standards overall.

To help us drive this next phase, four key appointments have been made within SMBiT Professionals, each focused on enabling growth, engagement and industry impact:

    1. Vivien Dehamer, Executive Officer, is responsible for the successful delivery of our flagship Annual Conference and the growth of sponsorship opportunities across both Conference and Chapter Meetings. Vivien will also lead internal systems and governance processes, whilst also being the Company Secretary.
    2. Michael Crocombe, Membership Officer, focused on cultivating our membership base and ensuring strong engagement across all Chapters nationwide. Michael’s remit includes member recruitment, retention, and extending our regional presence to better represent TSPs in every corner of Australia & New Zealand.
    3. Wayne Small, Technology Evangelist, tasked with building impactful relationships with external organisations, vendors, government, and other industry bodies. Wayne is the Lead of the SMB1001 Steering Committee which will deliver the Association’s advocacy and visibility, ensuring SMBiT Professionals continues to be recognised as a trusted industry voice and authority.
    4. Michael Priest, Data Management Lead, will oversee CRM management, hosted systems, business intelligence, and member collaboration platforms.

“Together these four roles represent a major investment in our capacity to deliver sustainable, meaningful growth for our members and industry as a whole,” said Mitch Colton, Board Vice-Chair, SMBiT Professionals.

In addition, the Board structure has changed ensuring the right skillsets are benefiting and supporting SMBiT Professionals new direction for growth:

      1. Scott Atkinson, Board Chair, will be the lead Director for Risk, Governance and the Finance Sub-Committee.
      2. Mitch Colton, Vice-Chair, will be moving into a Vice-Chair role focused on growth initiatives & strategies for expanding the association’s impact. Mitch is also responsible for our Annual Conference Sub-Committee.
      3. Jessica Leong, Non-Executive Director, will lead the Sponsorship Sub-Committee.
      4. Kayla Ellice, Non-Executive Director, will lead the Marketing Sub-Committee.
      5. Aaron Jervis, Non-Executive Director, will lead the Technology Sub-Committee.
      6. Clint Simonsen and David Perkovic, Non-Executive Directors, will both lead the Membership Sub-Committee.

Our three-year outlook as an Association will support our move to become the Industry Peak Body for TSPs servicing Small to Medium Businesses. Our ambitious growth goals will see us almost doubling in size, include significant expansion in company membership and to be recognised as a leading voice for TSP’s.

“Looking back on the history of this Association, and experiencing its significant phases of change and growth, I’m incredibly proud of what this next phase will mean for all the SMBiT Professional Members.
